Memorial Comment

I was one of Alan's SGT's, Bob von Almen.  I saw by his obituary that Alan was 68 years of age. Alan Essex was one of my best rifleman, and he knew he was surrounded with his Band of Brothers.  Alan never slacked off his duty as a 506th Airborne grunt.  I was very blessed to been able to call Alan my friend!  Due to Alan's actions in combat and having covered his brothers backs, myself and others are home safe! Now being 73 (74 in September) my men would kid me about being the "old man",  Alan included!  Alan's family has my deepest sympathy on your loss of a good man.  May Alan's soul and all the souls of the faithfully departed, through the Mercy of God, Rest in Peace.

Currahee Brother!

Bob von Almen

"Thank you brother for a job well done".  Until we meet again my friend ..... "Currahee"......"Stands Alone"
